About Us
Screenline was created in response to the rapid transformation of the filmed entertainment business from one focused on U.S. box office receipts to one increasingly dependent upon international markets and ancillary platforms as a means to profitability. Gone are the days of measuring the success of a film by its U.S. performance; today it takes careful analysis of a film’s worldwide impact to understand its true marketplace value.
Baseline has been providing its subscribers with cutting edge entertainment intelligence for the last twenty years. Recent advanced web-based technology has enabled the company to disseminate data more efficiently and in new ways. This efficiency has expanded our client base and fueled its hunger for more specialized research and analyses.
Key to the effort of providing solid international intelligence was finding a better resource for international box office data. While many firms publish Top 10 charts for the 20 largest markets, Baseline felt the increased weight of international markets play in a film’s theatrical life warranted deeper coverage. Enter Screenline – a professional tool to help track the production and performance of films screening in over 55 territories for more than a decade. The June 2006 acquisition of Screenline gave Baseline the resources it needed to effectively track production and release activity across languages and borders.
