Stieg Larsson’s thriller tops Swedish charts again
The second part of Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy takes Sweden by storm with massive opening weekend box office. The thriller "Flickan som lekte med Elden" (The Girl who played with Fire) opened at #1 with over 16'700'000 Krona in three days, stomping competition.
Also, the film out-performed the first part, Män som hatar kvinnor (Man who hates Women). That crime thriller went on to be an all-time Swedish and Scandinavian blockbuster and is still showing across Europe.
Stieg Larsson was a journalist and chief editor for the magazine Expo. In 2005, he made his debut with Män som hatar kvinnor, an impressive start to a new career as a crime novelist that was sadly cut short when the author died the year before it came out.
